A series of five updates in 24 hours for the
Android version of WhatsApp
brought some new features designed to enhance the user experience and reduce the use of data in voice calls. One of the new features regard the ability to add custom notification sounds for individual contacts and/or group conversations. Now, when you open the detail page of a contact or group, you will see a new Notification box, that will allow you to change the style of notification and add custom ringtones.
Another new feature allows us to mark a thread as unread. It is one of the functions required to loudly after the problem derived from the blue ticks.
Updates have also brought a couple of interesting new options in the settings menu. First, the application now allows you to activate an option of using low-power data for voice calls, which is very important for users that have a low data volume.
The second novelty is the appearance of a new entry that indicates the amount of data that has been used as a backup to WhatsApp to Google Drive. The interesting thing is that it doesn't really exist in WhatsApp since months ago was added but then removed. This may however indicate the upcoming support forremote backup? To update to the latest version go to WhatsApp in Play Store to proceed with the update.
